Initial Consultation
CONSULTATION
The initial consultation will last for an hour and will thoroughly explore the nature of your present complaints, your past psychiatric, medical, family and personal history, and treatment goal. At the end of the session we will work with you to develop customized treatment planning. You are encouraged to ask questions about any aspect of your treatment.
Confidentiality and Release of Information
We take confidentiality very seriously. All evaluation and treatment information is confidential and can only be released to specified individuals or agencies with your written release. New Jersey law dictates some important exceptions to confidentiality. A patient presenting with imminent danger to self/others is one such exception. Confidentiality with adolescents (fourteen and older) is a sensitive issue that must take into consideration the child’s developmental need for privacy with the parents’ right to be informed of their child’s course of treatment. We are committed to finding the best balance.
When you arrive at the office you will be asked to sign the Notice of Privacy Practices (HIPPA) form. Additional information about HIPPA will be made available upon request.
